I'm joining yall for guild wars 2.  I played a little bit in BWE3, but not a whole lot, I wanted the game to really be new to me :)

What I'm looking for is a class and what weapons would make for good support (I'm mostly thinking of speed, punting or pulling people, temporarily invulnerability, walling off (like the guardian abilities))  Ideally, a class/weapon combination that would let me get to in the middle of a large group and push them apart and hopefully push some over a cliff, so that the rest of the group will be able to get their footholds when needed.

I've no idea if there is any good class/weapon combination for that, or if it would be especially effective at creating a breach, so some feedback would be helpful.  If there's nothing like this, OR it wouldn't be practical, then still would like to mostly be support - a little bit of heal, but mostly other support.

If warrior is the only class that can do that, then I may very well choose something else, too many people rolling warriors.

Thanks for any feedback there may be :)

I'm probably the worst person to answer your question. Given the fact that I plan on rolling every class there is lol. But I'll give it a shot. Reading what you would like to do I would vote in your case for a Guardian. Group speed boost as well as some other support skills. I agree there seems to be a lot of people who plan on rolling a warrior but I wouldn't let that sway you from playing one. Considering you could play your warrior completely different from the norm. Which I think is the classes main draw. It's vast amounts of weaponry and playing style. Then again all the classes have a wide range of playing style. So in conclusion: My vote in your case would be Guardian.

A shout guardian with a Mace and Shield suits the requirements you have listed. Something like This

Hey Flarewind, I'm a new member of the guild as well. Incoming wall of text! I agree completely with everything that has been said so far. I'm thinking that Guardian is going to be the best option, looking at what you want in to contribute in combat. I played a Charr Guardian during BWE1&2 up to around level 25. I'm still not really experienced with the class, but I had a fantastic time with it and plan on rolling an alt as a guardian. If you want pulls/pushes, the greatsword has a skill that throws something out to an enemy at about mid-range, deals damage, and then if you activate the skill again within a certain time limit, it pulls the enemy back towards you. If I'm not mistaken, there is also a leap skill, so that could really manipulate your target's positioning. The Hammer is also great fun, as it has a skill called Banish that launches your opponent into the air and knocks them down as they land. If you want walls, the staff can put up a wall that holds against foes, and I think there is a utility skill as well as a shield skill that puts up a bubble that will protect allies and push enemies away. I've seen people use it in WvW and push people off cliffs like this, it's absolutely hilarious to watch, probably even more fun to do yourself. And, if you want support, go for the staff/scepter/focus. I'm not familiar with the scepter and focus, but I found that the mage-like weapons seemed to aim towards supports revolving around buffs and condition removal. Not to mention the three virtues that you can activate to give to your nearby allies. Other than that, every guardian skill that puts up a combo field can be used to help add retaliation or remove conditions, depending on the combo finisher. There might be more that I can't think of or didn't have a chance to experience with my limited time in the betas, but being a guardian is incredibly fun.
