My new computer is on its way and will be here in a couple days. The old computer it is replacing has the exact same SSD hard drive. The new computer can have like 4 hard drives, and I would like to install the old hard drive on the new computer. Not in RAID config or anything, just as a second drive and to recover information from the old drive that I wasn't given the chance to retrieve before it died. Other than plugging in the old SSD hard drive into the new case what do I need to do? Just set the boot order in the bios? Or do I need to know/do something additionally? Any help appreciated and thank you ahead of time.

Setting the boot order will work just fine. To avoid any problems though, once you get the files transferred I would format the old drive to remove the windows install off it. It's not a must do task, just a good idea.

Also,

You may have problems getting to the old files depending on which OS the old drive had on it.  The new computer may not let you in without permissions being set.  If that happens and you need some help getting to it just drop a line in here and we'll get that set for you.  :)

What I always do is hook up the first drive get it all setup then after its all done and good to go I hook up the second drive I want for storage. That way I don't accidentally blitz my storage drive setting up the OS.

My advice for your drives would be use a small SSD only for windows (60 gb is more than enough) and use a bigger one for games and programs that are heavy on data transfer. However avoid installing small programs that do not require a lot of memory like microsoft office, raidcall, etc...

I agree with kooZ^^. I use 120gb just for Windows and maybe one or two games and have a big 2gb HDD for storage for the rest. I have found this set up is quite nice and everything runs much smoother. Also having windows boot from SSD is ungodly fast. Goodluck

well just to clarify both drives are 256GB SSDs w/same manufacturer, and both will be running windows 7. I haven't warmed up to Windows 8 for desktop yet. So my thinking was they should be pretty compatible. So both drives will show up in the available drives list after boot up? Or do I have to manually select one over the other in the bios?
