Family:
Rakesha Thorne was the daughter of Douglas and Sara Thorne, upper-middle class citizens of Divinity’s Reach. Douglas was a renowned Illusionist, and often called to consult his talents, either for entertainment or … other reasons, throughout Divinity’s Reach and surrounding areas. On the surface, his skills were used for mostly frivolous means, but anyone that knew the true depth of an Illusionist’s skill would be aware of what it could really do.

When Rakesha was 6, her family travelled outside the walls of the city to accompany her father to a job a few miles away. Usually he travelled alone, but this time he allowed his daughter and wife to ride along after a day of annoying begging by his daugher. They were attacked by “bandits” during the journey, who brutally murdered her father. Rakesha survived by her mother hiding her away in a hidden compartment in the wagon.

A day later, the remains of the wagon was found, her mother in a catatonic state but alive, and the crying 6 year old in the compartment. Her mother was sent to the healers to help her come to, but she never did. The loss of her husband was too much and she died a few weeks later in her sleep.

That was the first and last time Rakesha left the walls of Divinity’s Reach.

Rakesha was sent to live with her Uncle, her mother’s brother, a single wealthy man involved in the politics of Divinity’s Reach. He took responsibility of the young girl as a favor to his sister - he never approved of her marrying that strange magic-using man that was Rakesha’s father. He took the belongings of her parents, and stored them away, out of sight and mind, and never mentioned them to Rakesha, in fear she would want to follow in his footsteps, or worse, learn of her father’s duties to his country.
