Naay’s – Split Pea Soop
Ingredients:
• 1 pound dried green split peas
• ½ large yella’ onion, diced
• 2 tatties, peeled an’ diced
• 2 carrots, diced
• 1 celery stalk, diced
• 2 cans broth (vegetable ur chicken)
• 2 cans water (frae th’ broth)
• 1 teaspoon kosher salt (Wi' most canned broth ye can skip th' salt.)
• 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
• 1 smoked ham hock ur smoked turkey drumstick
Preparation:
Pit th' peas, vegetables, broth, an' water in a 4-quart ur larger slaw cooker machine. Gie it a stir. Add th' salt an' pepper an' th' ham hock ur turkey leg.
Cowre an' cuik oan law fur 8 tae 10 hoors, ur oan high fur 4 tae 6 hoors. Add a half hoor fur each time ye gie curioos an' lift th' lid.
Remove th' ham hock ur turkey leg. Use a stick blender tae blend tae desired consistency. Ah loch tae leave some chunks. Scrap aw th' meat frae th' ham hock ur turkey leg an' return it tae th' soop, discardin’ th’ bones.
If ye hae onie leftovers, ye main hae tae add water when reheatin'. Thes soop will pure thicken up.
