Is it possible to view the time in the own time zone, in addition to the current time or instead of the current time?
This would be possible maybe, by adding the own time zone in the data.
It would making planning of events much easier.

That would mean a bunch mor programming by Fog (the one man dog and pony show of the programming of this site) ::chuckles::
1) The profile would have have an added attribute called time zone.
2) People would have to go in and USE it
3) Everything on the site would need a module that looked at that attribute and figure out if you did enter a time zone and if you did, then compute it correctly. Then there are the worse case scenario of most of Austrlia versus US due to both doing the daylight savings time thing. So then you need all the dates in the thing right for knowing who is on what time if they change unless he finds some trusting source to throw the data at him and he still has to program to make that work.
Part 3 is the killer in my opinion.
Best bet to figure this out is look at the current time at the top of the page in your mini bar and compare it to the time on your own computer - even with Windows 8.1 I have a little program that still gives me the tool bar at the bottom but scrolling to far right pops it up larger than life too. =)
Not trying to sound rude are sarcastic - but I'm thinking the latter of the work on our end rather than on Fog's would be a much better idea. Besides, this site has worked internationally for 6 years without a problem.
The problem with going timezone independant is coordination through vocal means. Our site was designed originally to sync up with the ingame time. In Warhammer we played on a west coast based server, in RIFT it was PT in game, in GW2 originally it was PT as well. Which made coordinating times very easy. All you had to do was look at the in game clock. In the future I may make an option to do so but it would require quite a bit of reprogramming and I'm just not willing to devote that much time to it when it's been running so smoothly for 14 years.
One thing that WILL help you is adding our iCal feed to your phone or Google Calendar. You phone or Google will translate it automatically to your timezone. This is why I built those. I can also port over the Personal iCal feeds if you like as I have them setup on sanctumofrall.com already. Wouldn't be too difficult to port them here if someone needed them.
Or you can do like I did recently, and put a little sticky note somewhere close by. I kept forgetting that I was in a different time zone post move not all that long ago, and so I was always a little wonky with time. So I did that to remind me for event creation.
I see that it is more difficult than I first thought. All my systems and phones are running under windows. I have added a second clock as an aid and have made a list that contains the different times. I am studying the iCal function, thanks for the tips.
Lionan, I'll port over the personalized one this week. I have my calendar streaming to my phone so it shows all the events I sign up for. It's super easy :)

How do you make it so it only shows the events you signed up for? I tried using the iCal function once but suddenly every single event on the site was on my calendar, even the GW2 ones and I don't even play GW2. So I turned it off. If I could have just the events I sign up for that would make it so much more convenient.
I'm looking forward to it, thanks.
On the top bar mouse over the "" Icon. This is where your calendar is. There is a new option to Sync to iCal or Outlook. Enjoy!
Sorry. I forget probably something, but I don't get any events to see under this icon and if I sync also not in outlook. How do I make sure that certain events are coming in my list?
You need to rsvp to each event you plan to attend. So click on the event you want to attend and click join event.
I see what I am doing wrong. I joined on the gaiscioch site and the .ics file is from sanctumofrall. It works now.
There is no link with our site?
SOR & GSCH sites are completely different. There is a checkbox for leaders to sync their GSCH events to the SOR calendar but no way in reverse. It's a simple json push to the other server. The 2 are completely separate.
Thank you, this is very helpful.
